COMMENT: Design Story: The original Montana has the following key features: (1) A Billiard-shape bowl, with a round shank, (2) An Army Mount, with a silver band around the tenon, (3) A silver band around the shank, and (4) the round briar insert. Occasionally, Bruto would make a Montana of another shape, such as a Freeform Apple, Tomato, or a Dublin.
Occasionally, Bruto would make a Montana with an Apple-shaped bowl instead of the classic Billiard. This pipe here shows yet another take on this Apple variation. To put it simply, I have to draw your attention to the bowl and shank and how each goes in the opposite direction of the other. Another way to put this is by saying that the bowl is quite canted forward.Apart from all that, what makes this Montana quite unique is the fact that it is of unusual dimensions, and hence the rare name "MEGA" (magnum). So, here you have it: A freeform Montana, Three-Notes, AND MEGA! The tiny Cumberland Dunhill Lovat you see in the picture is Group 5 (yes, FIVE)! |
