Important Note:   Some of the pipes on this page carry the unique stamp: "50/2". This marking was carried out on all the pipes produced in the year 2002. Bruto celebrates his 50th birthday, and hence the "50", and the 25th anniversary of his pipe making career, and hence the "/2".
The pipes carrying this stamp are clearly indicated within their table.

COMMENT:

This is a pipe that offers great flexibility when it comes to the shape and size. Let me explain! It could be suitable for people who like: (1) straight pipes, (2) bent pipes, (3) long shanked pipes, (4) classic shapes, (5) freeforms (and freehands), and (6) large and medium size bowls. The walls are an incredible 20mm in thickness at the uppermost part of the bowl. While there are a few small bald spots, the grain is predominantly good and regular. The pipe should be comfortable to hold in the mouthpiece in spite of its weight and thanks mainly to the saddle mouthpiece. Like the above pipe, but to a much lesser degree, the drill left a tiny hole in the part of the tobacco chamber opposite the draught hole exit; this is not a problem at all, considering how thick the walls are, plus it's really tiny and superficial. The pipe is guaranteed just like the one above. No sweat!

COMMENT:

Yeah, I believe the description "Freehand" is more than justified in this case. Having said that, the bowl shape seems to be based (even if vaguely) on two classic shapes: The Dublin and the Pot. The latter is due to the wide diameter of the bowl, even if the shank is longer that you would expect on such a pipe. The bowl walls are impressively thick (up to 14mm or a bit over half an inch). Considering that the pipe is about 160mm (6.30") in overall length and that the shank and mouthpiece are slightly bent, it should make a great reading pipe. You really need to hold this pipe in your hand to realize how light in weight it is, considering the un believable amount of wood it has.
