COMMENT: You might be wondering why I decided to describe the shape as a Pot! Well, I have no idea!! For all I know (and see), a Freeform Billiard would also do. Whatever the shape is, the pipe has a great classic touch to it, and at the same time, the shape is by no means straightforward. The walls are quite thick, and the blast shows no bald spots anywhere on the pipe. The thick silver band is a bonus, and the mouthpiece carries one of Bogni's most complicated logos (yeah, for some reason, he has several logos)! Though the pipe is quite light in weight, I don't think it'll be easy to clench on the mouthpiece, since it's a bit too thick around the button (it measures 15mm or 0.20 of an inch). If you prefer to hold your pipe in your hand most of the time, then I highly recommend this gorgeous pipe.

COMMENT: As you know, I have very few pipes, in general, that come in this dark red finish. This finish gives a very classic touch to a pipe; it brings back pipes of yesteryears, such as old Charatan's. Speaking of Charatan, note also the special mouthpiece that is made to look like the typical Charatan mouthpiece. Based on this, we can safely assume that Ercole deliberately made the pipe according to the Charatan looks and feel, and he did a great job! The pipe shape is definitely a Stack (Chimney), considering that the height of the bowl is way more than the length of the shank. The reason why I included "Freeform" in my description is that the Stack normally has the bowl of a Billiard. Here, the bowl is more of a Dublin. The tobacco chamber is HUGE, and yet, the pipe feels so light weight and extremely comfortable. There is something that resembles a filling, and as you know, I refuse to sell pipes that have fills in them. Why am I selling this then? Well, on closer inspection, and judging by the grain pattern, I realized that this is unlikely to be a fill. It's only part of the grain.

COMMENT: This is probably the first pipe in this group that doesn't give me a hard time defining the shape. I hope you agree with me, but I do believe it's a classic Dublin. Of course, if we put into the equation the special saddle mouthpiece, we may have another impression. Having said that, I'm usually inclined to discard the shank and the mouthpiece when I describe a shape like the Dublin, otherwise, I'll end up describing all shape as a "freeform something"! The pipe is quite solid and robust, with very thick walls all around. The shank is quite long for the shape, and I love the elegant neck between the bowl and shank.

COMMENT: At first, I thought of a "Prune" or a "Plum", but then I decided for "Egg", since it's more familiar and it does equally apply (we, pipe smokers, must be the fussiest people that ever walked the earth ;-). The grain might be unimpressive, esp. on the left-hand side of the bowl and the bowl base; however, the robustness of the pipe more than makes up for this. The walls are impressively thick, going to a maximum of 17.5mm (0.69 of an inch). I'm glad Ercole chose a thin tapered mouthpiece; this is due to strike a balance with the weight of the pipe and lead to a more comfortable clench. In addition, I can to draw your attention to the fact that this piece of briar is very clean and flaw-free. I've spotted only three very tiny sandpits that are all underneath the bowl and shank.

COMMENT: Isn't this some spectacular bird's eye?! I'm so much in love with it, and I'm sure that if you appreciate the natural beauty of this type of grain, you'll just love this pipe. Ercole cut this piece of briar so skillfully to allow the bird's eye to take center stage. So the crossgrain is located on the bowl rim and base, as well as some parts of the bowl. The cluster of tight bird's eye on the right-hand side of the bowl is just amazing!
