COMMENT: A Dublin it is indeed! Of course, I could always add the word "Freeform" to it and even manage to justify the addition, but I really don't see the need to do so. There's so much variety in Tonino's rustication approach. I believe he chooses a rustication style, and later a stain, that best suits and complements the shape. In the case of this pipe, it's a medium rustication, with tones of black, brown and orange. The bowl rim exhibits gorgeous Bird's Eye in the attractive brown color, which is reflected on the rim of the shank and the smooth part underneath it, where the stampings are placed. The pipe is very light in weight, and due to the relatively small tobacco chamber size, I would recommend it as a pipe suited for pressed tobaccos or for a short "mixture" smoke. Having said that, I wouldn't compare it to less than a Dunhill Group 4. |
